Time Management Tips for the Work at Home Mom
Create a Schedule:
Juggling your work at home job, the children, your husband, and the household issues can be difficult. Creating a daily schedule can help take some of the frustration and stress from your life. You want to determine how many hours a day you want to devote to your work at home business. After this time is up, you can move on to other things that need your attention. One helpful tip is this – if your children are in school, make that time work time. That way, when they get home, you are finished and ready to spend time with them. Here are some great tips for creating your schedule.
Set aside a special time for ‘play time.’ This will help ensure that you have time to play with your children, and give them some Mommy attention.
Color the time that you are working with one highlighter, and then mark the ‘play time’ with another color.

Explain to your children which color means ‘mommy has to work,’ and which color means ‘it’s time to play.’ Make sure they know that you aren’t able to play until your work is finished.
Mark off time needed to handle things at home, like cleaning, laundry or yard work. Get your kids involved in the cleaning process. Even if they’re not really helping, you can spend time with them while you’re doing this.
Plan a weekly ‘date night’ with your spouse, and hire a babysitter for that night. Taking a night off and being able to enjoy yourself and your spouse will help you be prepared for the upcoming week and the workload.
Whenever it’s Possible, Multitask:
If you can ‘kill two birds with one stone,’ you might as well do it. For example, while you’re on the telephone, you can also be doing laundry or cooking. Multi-tasking saves time. For a work at home mother, time is money. Here are some great examples for multi-tasking that work at home mothers can utilize.
Tidy up your office while you’re on the telephone.
Place a small box of toys in your office so your children can play while you’re working.
Make a list of errands that you have to do, so that while you’re out for one reason, you can take care of everything on your list.
Review your messages while you’re making lunch for the kids.
One of the greatest tips for work at home moms to manage their time is to utilize a timer! Set the timer to go off when your allotted work time is up, and then simply put it away for tomorrow. Sticking to your schedule will help you find a good balance with everything you have to accomplish.
